Praying To God As Father
First of all, Jesus says, as Christians we can come to Almighty God and call him our HEAVENLY FATHER. That’s an incredibly intimate thing for us to be able to do! The Hebrew word for Daddy is “ABBA!"
Jesus is saying:
“When you start praying to God, come to him the way you would to a father whom you really love, because you know he loves you. He’s not some far off, impersonal force.
I love you so much that I died for you on the cross so your sins could be forgiven and you could have a loving relationship with God as your heavenly Father."
ROMANS 8:14-15 Everyone who is born again of the Spirit is led by the Spirit as God's children. You're no longer slaves, afraid of God's punishment for your sins but have been adopted as God's dearly loved children and can cry "Abba! Father!"
Q Are you able to come to God in prayer and cry "Abba! Father!" because you know he loves you and you are a child of God?
Q If not, is it because you don't yet know him as your heavenly Father?
Or is it because of difficulties with your earthly parents?
Read JEREMIAH 31:3; ISAIAH 43:1-5 putting your name in the places where God says he loves "you".
